How-To: Find Reviews of That Sketchy Online Store

by Omni on May.12, 2009, under How-To Guides, Useful Sites

The internet is a very large place, and there are multitudes of online stores that sell things. Whether it’s just some generic sketchy .com online business or if it’s a store that’s selling an item you want through Amazon.com, it’s your duty to know whether or not that company is reputable. There are so many instances and cases where online stores are actually scams, and they just run away with your credit card info (since it’s so easy to set up a website without any sort of licensing). Other times, the service from said store are so atrocious that you wish it were a scam, because it seems like you’re never going to receive your package anyway.

You may think that you’re one step ahead of the game and head over to Google to search about the company before you purchase something from some random site, but often times that search is inconclusive. If the company name is some generic word, your search will be flooded with inapplicable results. Or, on the contrary, the company is so obscure that a search returns virtually no useful results. However, there is a way that has tons of reviews of a great deal of online stores, both sketchy and well-established. Keep reading for the info.

If you ever want to look up a company’s online business profile and customer reviews, there is a wonderful site called BizRate that has a section specifically designated for handling online company reviews. Click the link below to visit their site and search for a company.

BizRate Store Ratings

Simply type in the name of the company you wish to look up, and almost always you’ll find the company along with a decent amount of customer reviews on the specific supplier. The products themselves are not reviewed, as it is more for the services of the business than the products. There is a summary of a rating on a 10 point scale (10 being the best) for overall, “would shop here again”, “on time delivery”, “customer support”, and “product met expectations”. They even have a smiley faces for those who dislike numbers. You can even read individual customer reviews along with why they may have given the store the scores they did. It really makes the decision of buying some random (or suspiciously cheap) thing from a shady company much more reassuring.
